I work exclusively from the unconscious, a painting image will arrive in my mind’s inbox, which I quickly scribble into a tiny thumbnail. I stick this little fragment to the corner of a large blank canvas and start painting. I rarely draft, so as not to impede my painting flow. It remains a mystery to me why the recurring elements I feel compelled to paint are sky, clouds, light, air and the ‘impossible’ These elements imbue a dreamlike quality to my work.
