MARK PAYNE LIMITED EDITION PRINTS
The Giclee process
Giclee (pronounced “zhee – clay”) is a French word meaning ‘a spray of ink’. With the advent of giclee prints, the art of reproducing fine art has become more precise, using a high quality digital printing system. In the Fine Art business, Giclee reproductions have surpassed lithographs, screen prints and offset prints as traditional print methods lag in the face of cutting edge digital advancement.
Giclee uses extremely fine droplets of ink which are transferred with incredible precision onto heavy water-colour paper or on cotton canvas). These droplets can be controlled by the computer, so that the resolution of the printed image is much finer than conventional printing.
All our Giclee prints are on the world’s finest (100% acid free ) paper. Click here for sample
Mark Payne Prints use the highest quality printing stock. Both the Regular and Deluxe paper types have exceptional image sharpness due to there smooth surfaces and pure white tones. In the deluxe range we are currently using a unique Bamboo paper which is environmentally friendly with an elegant finish. All our papers are designed to meet Gallery and Museum longevity requirements and respect the ISO 9706 standards, internally buffed to resist gas fading and maximise the conservation of your print. All stock is acid free. The archival nature of the pigments used, guarantee long term resistance to fading from UV light.
Both are of the highest quality and similar in cost.
We also print on excellent cotton canvas. Supported on kiln dried stretchers bars, laminated with soft gloss, stapled to the back, with hanging wires. Images can also be done on Belgian linen for that extra sophisticated finish. We request you email us for this treatment.
Individual custom sizes can be provided. We request you email us direct with your request as special pricing and packaging for freight may be required.
A Giclee print is not a ‘hand rendered’ image. It is a sophisticated representation of the original artwork that has been carefully matched through colour/tone calibration to offer an alternative and quite often less expensive means of purchase to an interested buyer.
With the increasing application of digital artwork receiving acceptance in major galleries world wide, the Giclee print has opened a new pathway for independent online and actual Giclee galleries to emerge.
*To respect and protect the integrity of a ‘SOLD’ original canvas painting, any image that is derived from this will always be indicated by OS (Original Sold) near the web – site image. The decision to print Giclee on high quality 100% archival acid free Rag guarantees the purchaser a unique, quality translation from the original piece of art and avoids any comparison that printing on canvas may allude to an original. Images on canvas derived from Mark Payne’s originals that have been solely approved from his permanent Personal Collection are indicated by PC.
